WhatsApp to end Blackberry OS support by Year end

WhatsApp is to end support for a number of operating systems including Blackberry 10, Nokia Symbian S60 and Windows Phone 7.1.

The company said it wanted to focus development "on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use".

Facebook-owned WhatsApp, which is used by a billion people worldwide, will stop working on the named operating systems by December 2016.

But it will still work on Blackberry's latest smartphone which runs Android.

Most of the operating systems that WhatsApp is dropping support for are legacy operating systems, which are no longer updated or installed on new devices.

The exception is Blackberry 10, which was launched in January 2013 and is still being developed by Blackberry.
It's unfortunate blackberry users have no other option than to ditch out their lovely baby because i believe no one would be happy using a smartphone with no support for WhatsApp.

Fast forward it to now - the Blackberry OS is now an outdated tech that no one would even accept if given freely as android has beaten it hands down.

Since the beginning of this year, news has spread of the disabling of WhatsApp on Blackberry devices .

The official statement says that by 31st December 2016, Whatsapp will be completely disabled on all devices running on Blackberry OS.

To see if this is true, just try and update your WhatsApp if you are using a Blackberry device and see whether it will work again.
